Electrical engineering - power systems and automation - Studies in Lübeck

University: TH Lübeck
Department/Faculty: Electrical engineering and computer science
Location: Lübeck
Degree: Bachelor
Start of course: Winter semester

Description of the study

The bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering – Energy Systems and Automation at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences provides students with in-depth knowledge in the fields of modern electrical energy systems and automation technology. Students learn how renewable energy sources can be efficiently integrated into smart grids and how automated processes are designed in industry.

In the first three semesters, students acquire fundamental knowledge in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, and computer science. This forms the basis for the subsequent advanced studies, in which they can specialize in either energy systems or automation. The energy systems specialization covers topics such as the planning, design, and operation of generation plants, controllable consumers, storage facilities, and grids. The specialization in automation focuses on the control and regulation of manufacturing processes and the integration of control technology and embedded systems.

A special feature of the program is the close connection between theory and practice. In modern laboratories, students apply their knowledge in a practical way and work on realistic projects. There is also the option of completing the program as part of the International Electrical Engineering Program (ISE), which involves spending a year at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in the USA. Alternatively, the program can be combined with vocational training, leading to a double degree. Graduates of the program are well prepared for careers in energy supply, automation technology, or industry. They have the necessary skills to actively shape the challenges of the energy transition and develop innovative solutions in automation.
