Description of the study
The Master's program in Environmental Management at Kiel University offers an interdisciplinary education aimed at developing complex, efficient, and sustainable management concepts for solving current and future environmental problems. The program covers several fascinating research areas such as nature conservation, soil protection, water protection, the Water Framework Directive, integrated coastal zone management, environmental monitoring, and sustainable land use.
The program is practice-oriented and places great emphasis on the application of scientific methods in real-life environmental scenarios. Students acquire knowledge in system analysis, modeling, geographic information systems (GIS), and data management. In addition, adaptive management methods that integrate economic and social aspects are taught.

The program is divided into four semesters:
In the first semester, basic knowledge of environmental sciences and management methods is taught. In the third semester, students work together to develop integrative management approaches and solutions for the management of natural resources.The fourth semester is devoted to individual work on the master's thesis.
