Green Energy - Studies in Heide
Description of the study
The Master's program in Green Energy (M.Sc.) at West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Heide offers practical and interdisciplinary training in the planning and implementation of projects in the field of renewable energies. Over four semesters, students acquire comprehensive knowledge in technology, economics, and law in order to actively shape the energy transition. The program teaches skills in the planning, construction, and operation of renewable energy systems, such as wind power and photovoltaic systems. In addition, topics such as the marketing of renewable electricity and heat, decentralized supply concepts, energy storage, and sector coupling are covered. There is a particular focus on integrating technical, economic, and legal aspects in order to develop holistic solutions for the energy supply of the future.
Close cooperation with companies and associations in the energy sector, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Energy and Water Industry Association (VSHEW) and the Northern Regional Group of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), gives students direct practical experience. Regular excursions, guest lectures, and “Green Energy Workshops” promote exchange between science, business, and politics.
The research activities of the professors are bundled in the Institute for the Transformation of the Energy System (ITE), which has been promoting innovative projects for the energy transition since 2018. Students have the opportunity to actively participate in these research projects and write their master's thesis in cooperation with companies.
