Description of the study
In light of global challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity, the bachelor's degree program in Green Engineering at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences teaches students how to combine environmental technology and process engineering in a meaningful way. Students acquire a solid foundation in natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science. They learn how to convert raw materials into products in an environmentally friendly way, analyze processes and their environmental impact, develop sustainable production processes, store renewable energies, and tap into the potential of the circular economy - always with an eye on the ecological and economic balance.
Graduates have a wide range of career paths open to them, for example as operations or project engineers in the chemical and raw materials industry, in the recycling and energy sector, or in the food or pharmaceutical industry.
The program is divided into seven semesters and concludes with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree – with no admission restrictions, full-time throughout, and taught in German. During the course of their studies, students deepen their knowledge in areas that are crucial for sustainable industrial development. From the fourth semester onwards, the focus is on subjects dealing with the environmentally friendly conversion of raw materials into products, the analysis of the environmental impact of technical processes, and the development of sustainable production processes. The storage of renewable energies – for example in batteries, hydrogen, or other energy carriers – also plays a central role. Other focal points include the assessment of emissions and their environmental impact, the switch to renewable raw materials, and the potential of the circular economy to save energy, water, and materials.
