Description of the study
The aim of the course is to impart basic to specialized knowledge in the field of classical civil engineering so that specific tasks in construction companies, authorities, engineering offices and associations can be mastered. The course content takes into account the recommendations of the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Architects and Engineers, the professional representatives, the AS-Bau accreditation association and the Department of Civil Engineering.
Students can choose freely from the four specializations offered. The specializations in structural engineering and the specializations in water and soil, traffic routes and mobility as well as construction management aim to impart special, application-oriented and scientific knowledge in order to be able to independently master engineering tasks later on and thus, among other things, to be able to have a direct influence on the use of resources and climate protection in construction.

The postgraduate Master's degree course in Civil Engineering is the second part of a two-part study system that builds on each other in terms of content (consecutive degree courses). A first professionally qualifying degree with an overall grade of at least 2.7 or, in the absence of an overall grade, with at least this average grade of the individual grades is required for admission to the course. If this overall grade is not achieved, proof of at least one year of practical experience must be provided.

The fields of activity of civil engineers are wide-ranging and associated with worldwide areas of application. Large, medium-sized and small engineering offices, companies or administrations and associations employ civil engineers and deal with the planning, static calculation or execution of construction site and environmental projects.
