Mechatronics - Studies in Kiel
Description of the study
The bachelor's degree program in mechatronics at Kiel University of Applied Sciences is a practice-oriented full-time program lasting seven semesters that combines the disciplines of mechanics, electronics, optics, and computer science. Mechatronic systems are characterized by the acquisition, transmission, and processing of information. They consist of sensors that measure pressure or temperature, for example, and actuators such as motors, valves, or cylinders that convert this information into forces and movements. These components are becoming increasingly miniaturized, enabling new applications in areas such as automation technology, robotics, and medical technology.
The program provides in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, design engineering, and software development. From the fourth semester onwards, students can choose elective modules to set individual priorities. There is a particular focus on the practical application of what has been learned: in modern laboratories and through interdisciplinary project work, theoretical content is deepened and applied to real-world problems.
In the seventh semester, students complete a ten-week internship and write their bachelor's thesis. The program begins in the winter semester and is open to all applicants. Graduates can expect a wide range of career opportunities in industry, development, or technical sales. And for those who want to continue their research, the bachelor's degree also qualifies them for a master's program—for example, in mechatronics or robotics. Kiel University of Applied Sciences offers a modern environment with dedicated teachers and strong links to industrial practice.
