André Calero Valdez

André Calero Valdez is a professor at the University of Lübeck. His research examines the interplay between people, organizations, and technical systems in complex sociotechnical transformation processes. He combines empirical methods of human-computer interaction with data-driven and simulation-based modeling approaches to better understand the dynamics in such systems and make them more manageable.

In the context of the energy transition and climate protection, he focuses in particular on the social conditions of technological transformation: public acceptance of energy and infrastructure projects, trust in institutions, protest and participation dynamics, and the user-centered design of new mobility and utility systems. A particular focus is on how digital technologies, interactive systems, and models can be designed so that they are understandable, trustworthy, and socially effective.
