Dr.-Ing.
Short description
Dr.-Ing. Marius Langwasser (Member, IEEE) is Senior Chief Engineer and Head of the Electronic Grids Group at the Chair of Power Electronics at Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel). He also works as an Expert Scientist for Electronic Grids at Fraunhofer ISIT. He serves as PI of the Kopernikus Project ENSURE and as Co-PI for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Wingrid and SmartGYsum. His research interests include the operation and control of meshed and hybrid grids, talkative power conversion, converter architectures for hybrid grids, dynamically reconfigurable grids, grid operation with HVDC systems, and smart solid-state transformers. Dr. Langwasser is General Co-Chair of the IEEE PowerTech 2025 in Kiel and Secretary of the IEEE PELS TC 5 on Sustainable Energy Systems. In 2023, he received the IEEE PES German Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award for his contributions to "Modeling and Control of Power Electronics-dominated Electrical Grids".
