Short description
Prof. Dr. Pao-Yu Oei is a Professor of "Sustainable Energy Transition Economics" at Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF). He heads the Master's program "Sustainable Energy Transition", the department "Sustainable Energy Transition", as well as the 20-member research group "FossilExit". His research and expertise focus on modeling the techno-economic challenges and integration of 100% renewable energy in the electricity, heating, and transport sectors. Building on this, his research also includes more socio-political challenges related to structural change and the political economy of phasing out fossil fuels, including gender aspects. The research projects conducted examine both local issues in Schleswig-Holstein and global questions concerning a just transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The DAAD climate center he leads, 'Transnational Centre for Just Transitions in Energy, Climate and Sustainability (TRAJECTS)', also aims to establish an equitable North-South-South cooperation with Colombia and South Africa in the areas of knowledge exchange, capacity building, and research.
