Short description
I am Dr. Prokopios Georgopanos, department head of the Department of polymer technology at the Institute of Membrane Research of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Germany. I studied material science and did my master's and Ph.D. in chemistry and engineering of materials with a focus on polymer science and nanotechnology applications. Since 2012 I have worked in the field of polymer membranes for gas separation. Currently, I am active in the topics of scale-up of polymer synthesis supported by digitalization methods while also in the fabrication of polymer membranes for gas and liquid separation application, as well as composite fabrication for hydrogen and carbon dioxide storage applications. Since 2017 I have been active in hydrogen storage research in the framework of projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education in Germany, trying to optimize the performance of hydrogen storage materials by combining them with polymers.
