Short description

Yoann Pascal received an engineering degree from École polytechnique (Paris, France) in 2015 and a Ph.D. from École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay (France), in 2019. His PhD focused on PCB embedding of power electronics chips and magnetics, with an emphasis on parasitics and reliability. From 2020 to 2022, Dr. Pascal was a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Power Electronics of Kiel University. He then joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT (Kiel), where he has led the Power Converter group since 2025. The group conducts industry-oriented research and development in the direction of high-performance DC/DC power converters and inverters, focusing on reliability, compactness and efficiency. To this end, ISIT develops innovative technologies, including high-power, low-profile planar magnetics; uses GaN and SiC devices; and investigates modular topologies operating up to medium voltage. The institute also develops digital tools, such as AI-driven control.
