Kurzbeschreibung
I am a scientist passionate about building sustainable propulsion systems for various forms of mobility, particularly waterborne systems. I am a head of department at DLR and professor of energy converters and systems at Kiel University. I lead a team of over 20 scientists working on next-generation ship powertrains, with focus on (a) sustainable energy conversion via advanced internal combustion engines and fuel cells, (b) powertrain hybridization and electrification via batteries, advanced grid topologies, and modular power electronics, (c) waste heat recovery and thermal management, and (d) advanced energy management and controls. I have previously worked at Cummins, USA, as a controls & diagnostics technical specialist and graduated with a PhD from Purdue University, USA, specializing in diesel engine systems and controls.
