Beschreibung des Studiums

The bachelor's degree program in physics at Kiel University offers comprehensive training in the fundamental areas of physics. Over six semesters, students gain an in-depth understanding of the basic principles of nature and their application in modern technologies.

The program is divided into the main areas of experimental physics, theoretical physics, and mathematics. Experimental physics covers topics such as mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, and optics. Theoretical physics includes mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and statistical physics. At the same time, students learn mathematical methods that are essential for understanding physical concepts.

Students gain practical experience in extensive laboratory internships, where they learn and apply experimental techniques. In addition, they acquire knowledge in computer science and electronics to prepare them for the interdisciplinary requirements of modern research and development projects. There is a special focus on the application of physical principles in environmental and energy technology. Topics such as photovoltaics, fuel cells, electrolysis, and battery technologies are covered in the areas of solid-state physics, surface physics, and plasma physics. The program concludes with a bachelor's thesis in which students carry out their own research project. For more advanced scientific qualifications, the subsequent master's program in physics is recommended. Graduates are well equipped for careers in research institutions, industry, or further academic studies.
